RNAguard™ Ribonuclease Inhibitor (Human Placenta)

Source: Human placenta.

Description: RNAguard™ is a noncompetitive inhibitor of ribonucleases (2) which functions by noncovalently binding to RNase A-type enzymes. RNAguard™ (human placenta) is isolated from human placenta using affinity chromatography. It requires dithiothreitol for full activity supplied in five 1000 unit aliquots to minimize loss of activity which can occur with repeated opening.

Unit Definition: One unit is the amount of protein required to inhibit the activity of 5 ng of RNase A by 50% (2).

Assay/Reaction Conditions: RNAguard™ will function in any enzymatic reaction buffer with pH 5-8. Optimal activity is observed at pH 7-8.

Concentration: 20 000-40 000 units/ml.

Specific Activity: > 26 000 units/mg.

Supplied as: Solution in 20 mM HEPES-KOH, pH 7.6, 50 mM KCl, 5 mM DTT, 50% glycerol.

Note: RNAguard™ is shipped on dry ice. Upon receipt, place the product at -20°C for storage. Alternatively, transfer the product directly to -70°C without allowing it to thaw. Once the product is removed from -70°C, it should then be stored at -20°C.
