Detection is the step where you generate and acquire signal. The signal can be captured using autoradiography films, storage phosphor screens and image acquisition systems, depending upon your labeling method and the required levels of sensitivity and resolution

Autoradiography films are commonly used where a dark room is available for film processing and development. This detection method is compatible with self-generating signal labeling protocols such as radioactivity and chemiluminescence. Autoradiography films are inexpensive, reliable, and provide you with a good level of sensitivity and resolution. Results obtained with this method can be scanned and analyzed using image analysis software.

Image acquisition systems such as CCD cameras and laser-based scanners are usually used with chemiluminescence, chemifluorescence and fluorescence labeling methods. Some scanners are also able to acquire radioactive signals using storage phosphor screen, which is about 10 times faster than regular autoradiography films.

GE Healthcare offers a wide selection of products allowing our customers to perform high-quality detection with considerations to every budget and laboratory installation.
